Albert Zuehlke
Following completion of a B.Sc. (biology major and chemistry minor) from the University of Alberta, I pursued employment as a lab assistant at the Environmental Microbiology department in ProvLab Edmonton. This experience sparked interest in pursuing a laboratory career and I continued with education in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS). The MLS program instilled an appreciation for the clinical laboratory aspects and provided the opportunity to partner with Dr. Zhang & Dr. Le to explore developing novel bioanalytical techniques for potential clinical applications. Specifically we are working on a novel bioanalytical assay involving binding induced tandem amplification of a fluorescent signal by use of DNA functionalized gold nanoparticles, allowing for highly sensitive, specific, adaptable, homogeneous, and isothermal biomarker detection.
