Cynthia Cheney

After completing my undergraduate degree in Environmental Toxicology at the University of Guelph, I pursued a career in scientific education. I obtained my teaching qualifications in math and science from Queen’s University, and spent time teaching overseas and in Northwestern Ontario. After evaluating my career aspirations, I decided to return to the academic world, and am now enrolled in the Chemical and Environmental Toxicology doctoral program at the University of Ottawa. I am working under the supervision of Dr. Jules Blais to contribute to the emerging field of paleoecotoxicology, by assessing the toxicity of historic sediments collected from lakes in the Yellowknife area, near the site of an abandoned gold mining operation.
