After completing my BSc in Biochemistry and Biotechnology at Carleton University, I joined the Genomics Laboratory at Health Canada as an MSc student under the supervision of Dr. Carole Yauk. My MSc project focused on testing the utility of qPCR expression profiles of chemicals as an in vitro biomarker for DNA-damaging  substances. I recently transferred to the PhD program to continue working with genomics technologies such as next generation sequencing to study genotoxicants. I will be further exploring the ways in which gene expression changes caused by chemicals can be used to characterize different mechanisms of DNA damage.
