Jonathan Séguin
I am a MSc. Biology candidate in the Chemical and Environmental Toxicology specialization program at the University of Ottawa under the supervision of Dr. Jules Blais. My research focuses on the determining the bioaccumulation potential of the various compounds found in dilbit (diluted bitumen) on the fathead minnow (Pimephales promelas) and amphipods (Hyallela azteca). This experiment will be conducted at IISD-Experimental Lake Area in Kenora, Ontario and will simulate a dilbit spill in a Canadian Boreal lake to inform much-needed evidence-based management strategies for the transport of diluted bitumen in Canada. Previously, I have graduated from the University of Ottawa with an Honours B.Sc. in Environmental Science Specialization in Environmental Geochemistry and Ecotoxicology. Furthermore, I have worked for the department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) as a student technician for the Asian Carp early detection program during the summers of 2015 and 2016.
