I have a Bachelors degree in Pharmacy and a Masters degree in Community Health and Epidemiology from the University of Toronto. For my PhD research project, supervised by Dr. Laurie Chan, I am studying the human health implications of persistent organic pollutants exposures among Canadian Inuit. I have been working on developing guideline values for organochlorine pesticides and polychlorinated biphenyls and examining associations between contaminant exposures and chronic diseases. Much of this work involves analysis and synthesis of biomonitoring and toxicological data. This project has provided me with a unique opportunity to apply the fields of health, epidemiology, and toxicology to better understand a complex environmental issue.
