Kirsten Smythe

I completed my B.Sc at the University of Ottawa in Environmental Sciences with specializations in Geochemistry and Ecotoxicology. I am currently in my first year of graduate studies at the University of Ottawa under the supervision of Dr. Jules Blais and Dr. Jack Cornett. I am pursuing a M.Sc. in Earth Sciences with specializations in Chemical and Environmental Toxicology.

My Research is focused on petrochemical contaminants associated with the Athabasca Oil Sands of Northern Alberta. Of these contaminants, I will be centralizing on polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and their use for determining contaminant sources and the frequency of oil sands contamination events.
