Laurie Chan
Laurie Chan joined the University of Ottawa in September 2010 as Professor and Canada Research Chair in Toxicology and Environmental Health at the Department of Biology and also serves as the Director of the Centre for Advanced Research in Environmental Genomics. Previously, he held an NSERC Northern Research Chair at McGill University (2002-2005) and a BC Leadership Chair at the University of Northern British Columbia (2006-2010). Prof. Chan has been studying the impacts of environmental changes on the health of the Arctic ecosystems for two decades. His research in environmental and nutritional toxicology spans from the lab developing new techniques for contaminant analysis, to participatory research in the community on the risk and benefits of traditional foods and food security.
