I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Ottawa in Environmental Science Specializing in Ecotoxicology and Geochemistry. I am currently in my first year of my MSc in Biology under the supervision of Dr. Jules Blais. My research focuses on determining the effects of pipeline spills in Canadian Boreal lakes through the addition of diluted bitumen (dibit) to in-situ mesocosms at the IISD-Experimental Lakes Area in Kenora, Ontario. I am focusing on characterizing the behavior of dilbit in a freshwater system by tracking the fate of its harmful constituents (PAH’s, Metals, petroleum hydrocarbons) and highlighting potential pathways of toxicity to the surrounding biota.
